Let's move forward now

We've come a long way, baby! Has there ever been an election that was filled with so much emotion? Locally, state wide and of course, our presidential election seemed to all have elements that touched us more personally, more deeply than ever before.

For Patterson, there's no less work to be done than in Washington DC. What happens here is as just as important to our everyday lives. After all, we are all members of this community, this circle city that we all call home.

My wish is that the new energy that the challengers brought to the campaign, the new ideas and involvement from new residents will continue. So let's move forward, together, east and west, new residents and natives, businesses and consumers to move Patterson into a new age of thriving prosperity and small town charm.

Isn't sadly funny that the challengers are the folks that brought new ideas and energy, yet we elect the same old slate. Slates are bad, bad, bad.

Why doesn't anyone ever call out Farinha on farmland preservation.

Everytime something comes out of his mouth its "don't pave over farmland" or "we need to protect the land that feeds us".

To make it worse, we elect him because of his planning experience, yet not one single form of planning policy has been proposed by his seat.

He got a free pass from all the mayoral heat.

So why can't we put his feet to the fire by pushing him to actually do his job and get some form of farmland preservation through the council? He is in the best position to do this......I'm not holding my breath.

This is just one of many examples, that conclude that this council is so fixated on one issue.....the rest of the city goes to hell.

never believe a politician, they shake one hand while sticking their other hand in to your pocket. The only way to move forward is to elect people who are regular citizens that want whats best for the city as a whole and not what is popular. I know its hard to decipher the candidates and measures and what they really are, but people, we have to go back to our roots. I've lived in Stanislaus County Most of my life, I was born here at a hospital that no longer exists. Patterson has always been a good quiet community. Lets not let the politicians make a Modesto out of it. I moved here less than two months ago, and I don't regret it, but I think it's about time that code enforcement gets all the banks and realtors to start maintaining their properties such as they have the ability and responsibility to do.

kudos on making business keep up their property!!! Lets not forget and abandon what makes Paterson so unique, its downtown! I love furniture but honestly who parks on Del Puerto in anticipation of buying a couch? I'll buy a $1 water pistol with the best of um, but do I need to go downtown to do that? Pink strollers are cute(well?!?) but do I need to see 50 of them lining the sidewalk in front of the store? These business' would be much better served out towards Save Mart etc. Lets address the arts and put a theatre back in(the old pizza plus building), have an open mic night, plays, community events etc. Not only will it provide entertainment but it would also drive dollars downtown business' like Blues, Pizza Plus etc. Lets get rid of that god awful awning that covers the West sitting sidewalk of Del Puerto downtown. Lets bring back the farmers market and actually work on planning one that thrives! Food, music, crafts something that becomes a weekly destination for young and old from patterson, crows landing and newman alike. Also driving $$'s into our local downtown economy(outside dollars in some cases). Lets re-build the downtown parks and patrol them so children aren't scared to use them. A $15,000 palm tree is great...but $15k in plant life and landscaping would work wonders for the circle. Re-Vamp Down town!!!! Home is where the heart is...but our downtown is the heart and soul of this community. Lets kick it up a few beats per minute! I'm un-officially announcing my canadicy for office 2016(thats a joke)! -Kevin

Kevin & Vernon -

This is what this city needs more of, people thinking, generating thoughts and ideas that will move our community forward.

Kevin, your insight as to the priorities of which this city should have is right on the button. You would have my vote.

Feel free to post on my sight also.
