Wal-Mart is coming to town?

You better watch out
You better not buy
You better not shop,
I'm telling you why........

Wal-Mart is coming to town..........

Before making up your mind on how happy you will be to have a Wal-Mart in town, please take a few minutes to read some of the research that's been gathered over the past few years.

Think about some of the shops in town that will be gravely affected. Your friends, neighbors and family who own or work at auto parts shops, hardward stores, convenience markets, and even some grocers.
These local businesses that support our local schools and clubs, will be forced out. Will Wal-Mart contribute to our youth sports or the local arts scene? Can Patterson FFA expect Wal-Mart to donate to their fundraisers?

Think about it........

But, Property taxes on the bldg can raise income for the City

True but if the building is valued at $5 million - hypothetically - that would only be $50K in prop. taxes, not even enough for a skate park.
But I will say that for many folks an annual income of $10K - if it's a second income, would be helpful. And if that family were then to have $$ to shop locally, that would help too.

I don't know about other stores but the local hardware stores price gouge on several products and it makes me drive all the way to turlock to a Home Deopt or a Lowes. I would support the local shops if they offered competitive prices but they don't. So I say let Wal-Mart come.
